Reicterra’s Calendar

Reicterra’s calendar is a 13-month, 4-week, 28-day calendar. The calendar is lunar which plays heavily into the nature-based religious beliefs of the elves. The last day of the year exists outside of the 13 calendar months.

Here’s how it overlaps the Gregorian calendar. Stars denote holidays

People say the date the way Americans say “the 4th of July”.

Religion and Icons

The gods are countless and unknown, however, there are those like the Greek Pantheon who rule over nature in this universe. It is unknown whether the gods were created to explain the unknown or if they are real. Most just don’t care.

There are no competing religious claims. People either believe, don’t, or don’t care.

Some wear a charm or icon indicating their devotion while others choose charms geared more toward specific gods.

Stories and Parables

According to the stories, the gods crafted the universe for their pleasure and the planets are projects, some active, some long dead and left on their own. The gods that created this world love it dearly and never left. They guide the seasons, bring storms, etc. Some even believe they affect personal lives.

There are many stories in the religion, but the mass elf exodus is a major event. They are seen as radicals but devout, like something to emulate.

Houses of Worship

The devout worship in temples of glass, with lots of greenery, embracing nature. Similar to Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, AR or the Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

Aside from worship, they are often used for both religious and secular weddings.

Most sermons involve music and meditation and telling old stories in a lesson format. Some religious leaders called Elders preach a more extreme message of hellfire if you do not follow the ways, in an attempt to revive follower numbers with fear of being punished.

Currency

While there is coin currency, (no bills) most use digital currency. Counterfeiting is very difficult because of the intricately designed coin molds. All the coins have floral shield designs.

The currency is built on a system of fractions. It’s very complicated to understand, much like British or Indian currency, so people prefer paying digitally.

The aes reht is made of copper.

The canus reht is half-silver.

The argen reht is silver.

The pars reht is gold.

34 aes rehts = 1 canus reht > 2 canus rehts = 1 argen reht > 8 argen rehts* = 1 pars reht

Other Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Flux take place?

Flux takes place on Reicterra, the therian continent, the same place that most of Life as Rendered happened. While most of life on Reicterra is equivalent to our modern life, magick does play a part. Things like electricity are generated by crystals mined from the earth. These crystals are heavily regulated by the government.

If there are magickal items, are there people who can use magick?

Yes, like Jaska from Life as Rendered there are people with magickal abilities, however, they are believed to have mostly died out over time. Modern people with ability, known as adepts hide their powers from others. Civilians see them as having an unfair advantage. The government sees them as an opportunity to exploit.

There are also sensitives, those who touch on magickal abilities. Think superhero vs a psychic.

What is polyamory?

(from Greek   πολύ   poly, “many, several”, and Latin amor, “love”) is the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the consent of all partners involved. It has been described as “consensual, ethical, and responsible non-monogamy”.from Wikipedia

Flux deals specifically with polyfidelity.

Polyfidelity is a form of non-monogamy, an intimate relationship structure where all members are considered equal partners and agree to restrict sexual activity to only other members of the group.
